On Nov. 16 at 1 pm, MaryAnn Presman and I will do a reading at Mostly Book, 6208 E. Speedway (Wilmot and Speedway in the Beyond Bread shopping center.). MaryAnn will be reading from The Good Dishes, a book of short stories. MaryAnn, a snowbird from the Chicago area and a rapid Cubs fan, has had her short stories published in a variety of journals and magazines. The stories range from a variety of places and themes and there is one or more from everyone. I will be reading from my fourth novel, Behind the Robe: A Novel. If you haven’t been to Mostly Books it’s a lovely store with a wide range of books, cards and gifts.
All welcome. Don’t feel like you have to purchase a book to attend although we will be watching the cash register. We hate to read to an empty house.
MaryAnn and I are both available to go to your book clubs if you choose to read our books.
QUESTIONS about the characters in Behind the Robe.
Do Lourdes and Carlos get back together. That I can answer. NO
Does Molly stay sober and away from the wrong men? That’s a tougher question and one I can’t answer. Addiction is tough. We all know of people who stayed sober for decades and then relapsed.
Is there another sequel? That’s another one I can’t answer. I wasn’t planning on it, but it’s a possibility. I hate to give up writing about certain characters such as Anne, Molly and Lourdes, but maybe I need to try something different. Happy to have your opinion.
Toby is named after my dog Toby, a black lab. She is having surgery Oct. 1 for a lump. Please send us your good wishes. I’ve had her for 8 years and adore every inch and hair that adorns the floor of my house.
